Ronald F. Nolan 16 Big Horn Lane Woodstock, CT 06082 June 1, 2003 Mr. Donald DuBois Dear Mr. DuBois: I want to thank you for the professional forestry services that have been done for me the last 3+ years on my 135 acre parcel of land located in Woodstock, CT. It has been especially rewarding for me, being able to work with you in the field. The process of developing a proper land management plan requires vast knowledge, not only of forestry but also the lumber industry and the people to carry them out. I was very impressed from the start of our relationship with your ability to listen to my goals for preserving and improving forest and wildlife on my property and incorporating them into the Stewardship plan. It was an education for me and I was pleased that you would take the time to answer my questions, explain in depth each process and address my concerns. The process of the Stewardship Plan (detailed location of forest and soil types, inventory of wood products and other natural resources, ect.) and recommendations within the plan were appropriate for achieving my objectives for the desired wildlife habitat and future forest improvements. Working with you in the field made me understand the hard work that goes into the execution of such a plan. To assure the proper future forest and habitat development, a selective thinning of wood products was done. This included the property boundaries being blazed and painted, saw timber inventoried and quantified and damaged, defective or possibly diseased trees being marked for removal. The negotiation of the timber sale contract with a reputable firm and the overseeing of the logging operations were also important to maintaining the goals of the plan. Although most land owners probably do not get to see you work first hand, it has given me great confidence in your abilities as a forester. I am very satisfied with the services you have performed for me. I look forward to making this a long standing relationship since proper land management is a life long process. I would recommend your services to others seeking a good forestry and land management professional. Sincerely, 414 Dresser Hill Rd. To Whom It May Concern: Mr. Donald DuBois, owner of DuBois Forestry and Land Management Professionals has been our forester in Woodstock, CT since April 2001. Mr. DuBois, and his team, performed their service with a great deal of satisfaction to us. With his selective cutting the remaining trees will have room to mature. Mr. DuBois has treated our 33 acres of land with respect. We would highly recommend Mr. DuBois company, they are truly forestry and land management professionals. Sincerely, March 20, 2003 To Whom It May Concern: Please consider this a Letter of Recommendation for, DuBois Forestry and Land Management Professionals, Donald A. DuBois, owner. In 1999 we invited several individuals and firms to submit proposals for managing our property and make recommendations on timber harvesting and other environmental issues. After an extensive interview process, it was clear that Mr. DuBois was there to represent the interest of the land owner and not the interests of a lumber company. He was retained then and remains today manager of our 75 acres of woodlands, fields and wetlands. His recommendations included, when, what and how much timber to harvest in order to generate a healthy forest and encourage abundant wildlife. He also managed the sale of timber to only qualified individuals or companies and was frequently on-site to ensure that contract conditions were being followed for our protection. I would recommend DuBois Forestry and Land Management Professionals for any project related to land development and environmental issues. We are completely satisfied with their work and continue to call on them to assist us with managing our land. If you wish to speak with me to get a verbal recommendation, please do not hesitate to phone me at 860-928-5240. Sincerely, Nick and Polly LoPiccolo, Innkeepers Don Dubois, of Dubois Forestry and Land Management, sent my parents a letter about the possibility of Don acting as their forestry agent in the selective cutting of timber on their property. My father died last June and life was complicated, money tight, and a lot of changes were suddenly thrust upon my mother and me. I called Don and we met, walked our property, and Don thoroughly explained the process of how he would selectively mark the trees for cutting, would put the timber for bid, and would act as our agent in collecting money and supervise all phases of the work. We signed on with Don, and everything was done exactly as he said. There were absolutely no surprises. My mother received a check before work was even started and the entire process has been smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend Don for any forestry needs. Kurt Meyer, Jr. Dwayne Yovan April 9, 2003 Dear Don Dubois I am pleased to say that after our selective cutting of my 72 acres, the results I would like to express to you for future reference. My Maple growth for tapping trees has tripled in the first five years. When I walk thru the woods to look at the Oak produce all the trees are nice and straight and growing faster than I thought would be possible. I do look forward to our next selective tree cutting, the income of my property has increased greatly due to your expertise. Sincerely, THE HOLE IN THE WALL GANG FUND, INC.
